ETYMOLOGY
→ Legilimency is derived from the Latin words legens, which means reader, and mens, which means mind. This is the ability to extract emotions and memories from another person's mind. This literally translates to mind-reading, however, this is considered a naive interpretation of the art by its practitioners called Legilimens.
WHY LEGILIMENS?
→ Most of my friends and acquaintances see me as outspoken and loud. What they don't know is that I always find it hard to express what I really feel or think. Most of the times, I find myself agreeing to them even though what I feel is the opposite. I know that is considered playing safe. What can I do? This loud and outspoken girl is actually afraid of rejection and being ridiculed.
Sometimes, I actually wished that someone can read what's in my mind so as to let them know what I truly feel. My first blog was posted on Friendster and it was my way of expressing all the unexpressed thoughts and feelings. Anyway, I named it Thoughts.
One time, I was reading The Half-Blood Prince, for the nth time, when I came to the part where Snape is to teach Harry to practice Occlumency. (Occlumency is the opposite of Legilimency where you are to block your mind from a Legilimens). Although the chapter mainly discussed Occlumency, it still added some points about Legilimency and that's when I found the perfect name for my blog.
If I can't express my thoughts in words, I will in writing. I wanted people to see what's in my mind through this blog. I wanted them to know what I really want, feel, and think. So, there, Legilimens was born.
Oh, and before I forgot, I am not Legilimens, you are. ♥
